Nautilus Pool Matting

Good question. The Nautilus Pool Mats are designed for maximum traction in wet, slippery environments. The sawtooth surface texture is soft enough to walk on with bare feet (even for those with sensitive skin) but still textured enough to help prevent slips and falls. Additionally, the open grid/duckboard design, allows high volumes of water to flow through the mat while allowing the surface to dry quicker.

The Nautilus pool mats are made of a mold- and mildew-resistant vinyl composition and will hold up well in a hot, moist environment. To clean these mats, simply hose them down or clean with a deck brush, similar to the way you would clean the surrounding tile floors. Although not necessary, the mats can even be power washed.  (These mats can also easily be rolled up and moved elsewhere should they need to be but it is not necessary for standard maintenance and cleaning.)

Yes, you can certainly place the two Nautilus mats next to each other running down the breezeway and as long as they're being held in place on both sides and the mats can't separate from one another then this would certainly be a smart, safe and viable option for that environment and purpose.

Although it's true that black absorbs more of the sun's rays and thus gets hotter than other, especially lighter colors, the Nautilus matting in the black color can still safely and comfortably be used outdoors in the warmer months and in warmer climates. The open grid design allows for ample air flow and, unlike say a black asphalt driveway, the vinyl does not retain nearly as much heat.  Of all the available colors, Grey will reflect the most energy from the Sun and thus stay the coolest.

One of the many uses for the Nautilus matting is, in fact, in and around marine vessels and using this for safe matting in your engine room would work great.
